Secure Code Review

Secure Code Review – service by Suvendu Dash

A secure code review finds vulnerabilities in the source code itself, often before the feature is even deployed. It is the most reliable way to find issues such as injection, broken access control and hard-coded secrets, and to understand exactly where in the code to fix them.

What I look for

  • Injection flaws (SQL, command, template, deserialisation).
  • Missing or inconsistent authorisation checks.
  • Authentication and session handling weaknesses.
  • Unsafe handling of files, URLs and user input (path traversal, SSRF, XSS).
  • Hard-coded secrets, weak cryptography and insecure randomness.
  • Vulnerable third-party dependencies.
  • Security-relevant logic errors specific to your application.

How I work

  1. Scoping: we agree which repositories, services or features to review, and you walk me through the architecture.
  2. Automated analysis: static analysis (SAST) and dependency scanning to cover the whole codebase quickly.
  3. Manual review: focused reading of the high-risk code paths: authentication, authorisation, payments, file handling and data access.
  4. Validation: confirming exploitability where possible, so you can prioritise real issues over theoretical ones.
  5. Reporting.

What you get

  • Findings mapped to file and line, with severity and an explanation of the risk.
  • Suggested code-level fixes your developers can apply directly.
  • Recommendations for SAST rules or checks to stop the same issue coming back.

Code review works best combined with penetration testing, and its checks can be automated through DevSecOps.
